Happy New Year- the Year of the Pig! The Pig is in the 12 th position at Buddha’s side and represents completion and celebration of the cycle’s end. Pigs are true peacemakers, most easily contented, happy-go-lucky, and talented at bringing diversity groups and individuals together in harmony. The character of the Pig fits in the theme of our 5 th NADC conference “Harmony, Community and Accomplishments.” The year of 2007 brings BAADA a big forward to the bright future.
BAADA hosted the Lunar New Year Dim Sum Luncheon on February 10 th was a great accomplishment for our diverse community’s celebration. About 120 people attended in spite of heavy rain.
The spring season brings life to revive and blossom. Sunshine dances merrily over green grass and colorful flowers. BAADA will organize another event for our community members, friends as well as families. The Pacific Island BBQ/ Performance will be held at DCC (Deaf Community Center) in San Leandro on Saturday, April 28 th from 5 to 9 pm. Come join us for delicious pacific island cuisines and a bamboo performance.
The 5 th NADC conference is about 2 months away from now and the BAADA Planning Committee continues its toil to realize this dream with the community’s support and faith.

Pacific Island BBQ/Performance
BAADA hosts Pacific Island BBQ/Performance at Deaf Community Center(DCC) in San Leandro on April 28, 2007. The event will start at 5pm. The event includes BBQ Pacific Island style Dinner and live Filipino dance on the stage. Following the dance show there will be a social time to chat with old friends and make new friends among Deaf and Hearing participants. You are so welcome to participate and have fun to learn more about Filipino dance and Pacific Island style Dinner. Please RSVP as soon as possible. The purpose of the event is to raise fund for NADC 2007 conference.

NADC 2007 Conference
BAADA hosts 5 th National Asian Deaf Congress (NADC) 2007 Conference at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero in San Francisco. The theme of the NADC 2007 is “1994-2007” Asian Deaf People: Harmony, Community, and Accomplishments”. Our Asian Deaf and Hard of Hearing community is small. We have diverse ethnicities and educational backgrounds. There may be conflicts within our community. We need to live and work together in harmony. This theme will be focus of the workshops at the NADC conference.
In addition to the workshops, exciting programs will be offered: arts and crafts exhibits, professional organization displays, SF Bay Area/ Winery country tours, GALA farewell Dinner, Asian Deaf Talent Show and more… during the conference.
